BREAST AUGMENTATION

Breast augmentation surgery involves the surgical placement of implants and sometimes fat within the breasts. Its purpose is to increase size for patients born with smaller breasts and/or restore volume in patients with deflated breasts following breast-feeding or weight loss. Breast augmentation has the power to increase volume and projection of your breasts, improve symmetry of your breast, improve the overall balance of your figure, and enhance your self-image and confidence.

TYPES OF IMPLANTS:

Saline breast implants
These implants are filled with sterile normal saline. They tend to give the breast a uniform shape and firmness. They are FDA-approved for augmentation in women age 18 or older.

Silicone breast implants
These implants are filled with silicone gel. Have a softer feel and are very similar in feel to the natural breast. Silicone breast implants are FDA-approved for augmentation in women age 22 or older.

Round breast implants
This traditional style of implant will make the breast look fuller, especially in the superior/upper pole of the breast. They also have the ability, depending on the implant chosen, to give more projection.

Gummy bear breast implants
These implants are form-stable implants meaning that they maintain a specific teardrop shape to them throughout their existence. Because of this shape, they are more projected at the bottom of the implant while being tapered towards the top. This gives them more of a gradual slope to the superior/upper pole of the breast. The silicone gel within the implant is thicker then its traditional counterpart but still remains soft. Placement of these implants requires a longer incision.

Smooth breast implants
Some patients have indicated that these have the softest feeling. These implants can move within the breast implant pocket, which may give it a more natural movement.

Textured breast implants
These implants have the ability to grip the tissue around them, which therefore keeps them from moving around inside the breast. This also prevents the formation of a tight scar capsule around the implant.

PROCEDURE INFORMATION

Dr. Cisco Sanchez-Navarro can perform the breast augmentation surgery as an outpatient surgery. This means that you will be going home the same day of surgery. All of these operations are performed in certified surgical facilities with a staff that is well versed in this specific operation. Implants that had carefully been picked out during your consultation with Dr. Cisco are then placed within your breasts during surgery. The procedure typically takes from 1-1.5 hours depending on the patient and what is needed to get the optimal results.

POST TREATMENT 

You will be taken to a recovery area following your operation for close monitoring. You will wake up to find that your breasts will be wrapped in gauze and a supportive bra. You will be given specific care instructions by Dr. Cisco’s staff before leaving. Following surgery, the initial recovery period takes 24 - 48 hours. But additional reduced activity will need to be maintained for approximately one week. Expect soreness and swelling for a few weeks. Dr. Sanchez-Navarro will discuss with you when normal activities and exercise may resume which is usually around two to four weeks depending on the patient.
